What is Earth? What are the motions of the Earth?

Hello everyone, I am Anand. Welcome you once again to The Dream.

Do you know, what is the motion of the Earth?

As you must have seen everyday that Sun rises from the east in the morning and sets in the west in the evening. Seeing this, many people get the impression that the Sun is revolving around the Earth. But it is wrong to think so. As a result of which we have the position of the sun moving from east to west. You can also understand it with another good example like, If we look out the window while traveling by train then it seems that trees, electric poles, houses etc. are running behind, but reality is that the train is running and all the stuff outside is stable in its place. Similarly, the Earth is revolving around the Sun and the Sun is fixed in its place.

So let us know about the Earth is details:

  • Earth has two motions:-
  1. Rotation
You can compare the rotational speed of the Earth with a child's rotating top. Just as the child's rotating top moves on its spike, so the Earth also moves on its axis. This axis is called the axis of the Earth. Earth rotates on its axis at a speed of 1,674 kilometers per hour (1,674 KMPH).

What are the effects of rotating?
  • Day or Night
During the process of rotation, half of the Earth's surface is in front of the Sun, due to which half remains light, while the remaining half is dark due to being in the opposite direction. Therefore, the light half Earth's surface has day and the dark half Earth's surface has night. The light time before sunrise is called 'Bhor' or 'Prabhat', while the time after sunset is called 'Sandhya' or 'Twilight Wela'.

Comparison of early morning and evening:-
  1. Morning is the time of sunrise while evening is the time of sunset.
  2. The extension of the morning is from sunrise to midday and the extension of the evening is from midday till the beginning of the night.
  3. During the morning the sun appears to rise in the sky, while during evening it appears to descend.
  4. The Sun's rays appear to be coming from the eastern horizon during the morning and from the western horizon during the evening.
  • Tide and Bhaata
Due to the rotation of the Earth, there is tide and bhaata in the ocean area. Due to the gravitational force of the Sun and the Moon, there is a tide in the water of the sea and due to the gravitational force of the Earth, there is a bhaata.

  • Knowledge of directions
Due to the rotational speed of the Earth, we have the knowledge of the rising and setting of the sun, on the basis of which we can predict the four directions.

2. Circumambulation

While continuously rotating on its axis, the Earth also revolves around the Sun in a fixed orbit. The speed of the Earth's rotation around the Sun is called revolution.

Note:- Leap Year: Leap year is always a number divided by 4 like, 2016, 2020, 2024, 2028 is all leap year.
